CRM in Jira glossary

Gambit is a CRM that runs inside Jira Cloud, so its screens use Jira's words as well as its own. This glossary defines both. It covers the Jira terms, the records and fields Gambit adds, its screens and AI, and the plan terms. Your Jira admin and your sales lead then mean the same thing by "deal".

Terms from Jira and Atlassian

Work item

One record in Jira, such as a bug, an epic or a support request. Older Jira screens call it an issue. In Gambit, deals, accounts, contacts, email threads and meetings are work items. Jira search, permissions and history apply to them.

Space and work type

A space groups work items under one set of permissions. A work type is the kind of item, such as Bug or Deal. Setup creates three spaces for Gambit: CRM, Directory and Activity.

JQL

Jira Query Language, the search language behind Jira filters. Gambit's fields work in it, for example Account.name ~ "acme" or Health < 40. A search returns only the work items you can open.

Jira Service Management

Atlassian's service desk on Jira, where customers raise support requests. Gambit links each request to the right account by the requester's email. Once you map your organizations to accounts in setup, it links by organization too. Each link says why it was made.

Jira Free

Atlassian's free Jira plan. Gambit works on it.

On Jira Free, everyone on the site sees every record; private deals need Jira Standard or above.

Forge

Atlassian's platform for building cloud apps. Gambit is built on it.

Records and fields Gambit adds

Account and contact

An account is a customer company, and a contact is a person there. Each is a work item in the Directory space, shown by full name, as in "Acme Corp (RBDIR-12)". See accounts and contacts.

Deal

A sales opportunity in the CRM space, with fields such as Amount, Close date and Probability. Work deals on the Pipeline board or in its grid.

Private deal

A deal its owner makes private to the people they choose. Its email and meetings stay with it wherever Jira checks permissions. A total that leaves it out says so, as in "This excludes 3 deals you can't open". Private deals need Jira Standard or above.

Revenue impact

A field on software and service work items with linked customers. It shows the revenue at stake, open pipeline, revenue at risk, top tier and nearest renewal. Filter and search on it in JQL, and sort results by the revenue at stake. See the customer panel.

Health score

A score from 0 to 100 on each customer account, built from signals such as support volume and open bugs. Healthy is 70 and above, Watch is 40 to 69, and At risk is under 40.

Forecast category

A deal field with four values: Commit, Best case, Pipeline and Omitted. The rep picks one as their call; if it's empty, the stage's probability fills it in.

Commitment

A promise to a customer, such as "EU data residency by 15 January", tracked as a work item. It links the deal to the epic that delivers it. It turns At risk if that epic slips past the date. Commitments are on paid plans. See promises.

Screens and actions in Gambit

Home

The page you start the day on. You see your follow-ups due or overdue, slipped deals and renewals due in 60 days on accounts below Health 40.

Inbox

One list of the approvals, proposals and offers for you to act on. Approve or reject each one where it is.

Record page and Work tab

Each deal, account and contact opens on a record page, with key facts and health first. Below them comes a timeline of email, meetings and changes. The Work tab puts the deal, its promises and the delivery work on one line.

Ask

Put a question about your pipeline in plain words, and get back a table or chart of your deals. Each answer lists the metric definitions, filters, dates and grouping behind it. See Ask.

Proposal and Show sources

A proposal is a change Gambit's AI suggests. A person accepts it from the Inbox, and can Undo it. Show sources lists the records and emails behind an AI result, filtered to what you can open. Proposals are on paid plans.

Undo

After you apply a proposal or a bulk edit, Undo stays on screen for 10 seconds. An import can be undone for 14 days, and Start delivery for 7 days.

Start delivery

On a won deal, Start delivery creates its delivery epic or space from a template. It adds the first work items and a handoff brief.

Shipped for you

When a Jira release ships work a customer asked for, the account owner gets a drafted customer note to approve. On paid plans.

AI, Rovo and Atlassian allowances

Atlassian-hosted models

Gambit's own AI runs on Forge LLM, which Atlassian hosts. Its answers use only records the person asking can open. Your data isn't used to train models.

Rovo and the Gambit agent

Rovo is Atlassian's AI. Ask it about your pipeline, and each person sees exactly what Jira lets them see. Ask the Gambit agent to move a deal, and Undo it if you change your mind. Two Rovo skills come with it. Agents you build in Rovo Studio can use its tools under the same rules. The agent works on Jira plans that include Rovo.

Rovo credits

Atlassian's allowance for Rovo use. What uses them, and what doesn't:

Gambit's own AI, capture and background jobs are included in your subscription and use neither Rovo credits nor Automation steps. The Gambit agent in Rovo, Rovo Studio agents that use Gambit's tools, and Automation rules built from Gambit's templates or actions use your Atlassian allowances: Rovo credits from 3 Dec 2026, and Automation steps from your first renewal on or after 3 Dec, shown per rule in your admin Usage tab.

Email, plans and buying

Gambit Mail Sync

A separate Marketplace app that captures customer email onto Conversations on the right account and deal, with no BCC. It has read-only access, and it doesn't send, change or delete mail.

Capture needs a paid Gambit plan.

Microsoft 365 users connect their own mailbox wherever their IT allows it, or IT connects everyone; Google Workspace capture is connected by the IT admin; capture is labelled beta; personal Gmail opens after Google's review, with a waitlist.

Mail Sync is $0.25 per user a month for 11 to 100 users, with lower rates above that. See Mail Sync.

Priced on every user of your Jira site.

Conversation

A customer email thread, kept as a work item and filed on its account and deal. Each message on it is a comment, with the sender, recipients, sent time and files.

Free tier and Standard

Free on Jira sites of up to 10 users.

Free on Standard for sites of 1–10 users: the whole CRM, industry packs and Ask, with about 60 to 100 Ask analyses a month; background capture, summaries and drafts need a paid plan.

Standard is $2.50 per user a month for 11 to 100 users, with lower rates above that. See pricing.

Priced on every user of your Jira site.

Solution Partner

An Atlassian partner firm that buys Atlassian apps for its clients. Yours can add Gambit and Mail Sync to your Atlassian order. How buying through a partner works.
